Robert L. Breedlove was a member of the National Guard and the Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army who enlisted in World War II on November 11, 1940. He was part of the 12th Infantry Regiment and the 4th Infantry Division. Breedlove received his basic training at Camp Blanding in Florida. He later went to Camp Bowle in Texas for additional training. After receiving his commission at Fort Benning in Georgia, he left the United States in February 1944 from Fort Jackson. Breedlove was stationed in England until Invasion Day. Six days after he went to Normandy, France to fight, he was killed in action.
